H1N1 Influenza Tabletop Exercises For Your Community

We have successfully conducted H1N1 Influenza Tabletop Exercises for the City of Hamilton’s Emergency Control Group, McMaster University and the University of Western Ontario’s Emergency Control Group. We have also completed H1N1 Influenza Exercises for Mohawk College of Applied Arts and Technology, Ryerson University, and Trent University.

Each exercise is tailored to fit around the client’s Control Group, their process in their Emergency Operation Centre and their plan (if any). We also incorporate their resources and infrastructure. Influenza Pandemic Exercises and bird flu pandemic exercises can be incorporated into the more holistic emergency preparedness exercises and play an important role in Pandemic planning.

Our goal is to best reflect the client’s real situation in terms of resources and options available to them.

Pandemic Exercises

Is your organization ready for the Pandemic?
Have you had your Table Top Exercise yet?
Do you need help with your Pandemic Plan?

media relations trainingAll provinces and local areas have emergency response plans geared towards natural disasters. However, an influenza pandemic is likely to pose a series of challenges not accounted for in “All Hazard” plans.

In contrast to typical natural disasters, in which critical components of the physical infrastructure may be threatened or destroyed, an influenza pandemic may also pose significant threats to the human infrastructure responsible for critical community services due to widespread absenteeism in the work force. This may include in the non-health sector individuals such as highly specialized workers in the public safety, utility, transportation and food service industries, and will likely vary from area to area.

Federal, provincial and local officials should carefully consider which services and key personnel within relevant firms or organizations are “essential.”

An influenza pandemic differs from other disasters because:

It is expected that all localities will be affected within 1-3 months of the introduction of a pandemic strain to Canada. One recent example is the media attention given to a potential bird flu pandemic. WWP & Associates have developed Pandemic exercises to help prepare in the event of an emergency.
